Canada, France: Speed Cameras Sprayed, Burned
A handful of speed cameras in Canada and France were thwarted by vigilante action last week.

Vigilantes in Brampton, Canada, twice disabled the speed camera on Ray Lawson Boulevard. The automated ticketing machine had been installed earlier this month and immediately was blinded with spraypaint. After being cleaned by the for-profit camera operator, the device was sprayed a second time on Tuesday.

Vigilantes in Vaux-sur-Seine, France, on Sunday torched the speed camera that had been issuing tickets on the RD922 since May. The pole-mounted "turret" speed camera in Caumont-sur-Durance was cut down at its base, unable to issue tickets on the road to Avignon. On September 14, fire destroyed the speed camera on the RD834 in Garein. On the day before that, vigilantes blinded the speed camera on the RN66 in Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle with red spreaypaint.
