Fairness of Italian speed cameras questioned after ambulance driver fined during pandemic. Cameras attacked in Belgium and France.

Ambulance drivers in Italy
In Flins-sur-Seine, France, on Saturday, vigilantes disabled the speed camera on the RD113 by blinding it with a coat of black spraypaint across its lens. The device had just been installed at the location two days prior. Also on Saturday, vigilantes torched the speed camera on the RD926 in Puylaurens. In Bussang, the speed camera on the RN66 had its lens smashed and blinded with bright yellow spraypaint on Tuesday. In Rouvroy, Belgium, on Thursday, a vigilante shot a speed camera twice last week.

An ambulance driver in Loreto, Italy, was dismayed to find she owed 173 euros (US $193) and lost three points against her driver's license because a speed camera accused her of driving 98 km/h (60 MPH) in a 70 km/h (43 MPH) zone on March 7. The driver was transporting Covid-19 patients for the Green Cross of Civitanova at a time when the hospitals were completely overwhelmed with patients. The hospital confirmed that time was of the essence in freeing up space for critical patients through such transfers.
