France, Saudi Arabia: Speed Cameras Smashed, Blocked
Vigilantes block a photo radar van at Mecca and smash one in France with a sledgehammer.

Smashed French speed camera
In Saint-Avertin, France, vigilantes destroyed a speed camera on Thursday, La Nouvelle Republique reported. The automated ticketing machine on the D976 had been attacked and replaced on five occasions previously. This time, a sledgehammer was used to smash the lenses and the equipment inside.

In Mecca, Saudi Arabia, a motorist parked his car behind a "Saher" photo radar van on June 20 to block the camera and ensure fellow motorists would not receive a ticket. The incident was recorded on a cameraphone and uploaded to YouTube (view video).
