Pennsylvania County Workers Get Parking Immunity
Meter maids are caught allowing county workers in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to park illegally.

Wilkes-BarreCounty workers in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania can park illegally without consequence. A Times-Leader newspaper investigation found some cars at expired meters had parking tickets while others did not. The ones without tickets had business cards indicating the driver was a Luzerne County employee, and the ones with tickets were ordinary motorists. The paper watched as meter maids bypassed the vehicles displaying the business cards.

Local officials denied there were any free-parking arrangements.

"I will talk to the parking enforcement guys," city Administrator J.J. Murphy told the Times-Leader.
