7/19/2005Malaysia Allows Web Visitors to Issue Traffic Tickets
Upload photographs of a traffic offense in Malaysia and the police will issue a citation.
Visitors to a new Malaysian Road Safety Department website can now issue traffic citations to friends, enemies and strangers. All it takes is a photograph of the alleged incident which, when uploaded to the site, will result in the government following up and issuing a traffic citation.
The website features both a "Hall of Shame" for "rude road users caught in the act" and "Hall of Merit" for motorists and pedestrians worthy of "applause." Twenty photographs are currently online.
The Government is confident that the launch of the website could help curb the number of offences committed on the road.
