Australian Police Caught Misleading Public
Australian police caught sending letters to the public with false claims about speed cameras.
Following up on a previous story, the Courier Mail in Australia discovered letters were being sent to motorists claiming speed cameras were deployed based on an analysis of crash data. This is not the case, as no studies have been done since 2000 and documents show "secondary criteria" were used instead.
Article Excerpt:In a prepared statement, Queensland Transport admitted the letter was an inaccurate reflection of the speed camera selection process.... "Queensland Transport does not sign off on correspondence produced by the Queensland Police Service."
