UK: Sunderland Speed Camera Torched
Vigilantes destroyed a speed camera that had caused an increase in minor injury accidents in Sunderland, UK.

A speed camera in Sunderland, UK was torched around 2 am Thursday. A tire was placed around the base of the camera on Durham Road near Bede College and set on fire. The same camera had been destroyed by a pile of burning garbage in April 2005.

The Northumbria Speed Camera Partnership admitted last year that minor injury accidents increased 40 percent at five Sunderland speed camera locations as drivers slammed on the brakes to avoid citations.
