Australia, Italy: Speed Cameras Burned, Blown Up
Trash cans burn an Australian speed camera, fireworks take out an Italian machine.

Vigilantes in the province of Rovigo, Italy blew up a speed camera last week Saturday. According to Il Gazzettino, an incendiary device was placed inside the camera housing on the SP482 in the town of Bergantino. The explosion caused massive damage to the inner workings.

In the Australian Capital Territory, a combination red light camera and speed camera was set on fire before 2am on Tuesday. The camera issued tickets on the Pacific Highway in Gordon until trash cans loaded with books were set on fire directly below the device. As the Herald Sun reported, John Grisham's "The Partner" and Patricia Cornwell's "Trace" fueled the blaze.
