Italy: Vigilantes Empty Automated Ticketing Machine
Equipment withdrawn from speed camera in San Severino Marche, Italy.

San Severino speed camera
Vigilantes attacked a speed camera in the municipality of San Severino Marche, Italy on Friday night. The "speed check" machine on the Via Ponte S. Antonio was broken into and the inner working removed. The device now stands on the side of the road as an empty shell, unable to issue citations. Mayor Caesar Martini issued a statement condemning the loss of revenue from the device's destruction.

"What was done is very serious," Martini stated. "Whoever is guilty of these acts of vandalism should feel really guilty."

Since December, nearly a half-dozen cameras in the area have been destroyed. Police have no idea who may be responsible.
