11/3/2013Maryland, France: Speed Cameras Spraypainted
Three speed cameras spraypainted black in Montgomery County, Maryland, and four in France are painted and burned.
In Dirinon, France, vigilantes spraypainted a happy face on a speed camera on Thursday. The white paint of the eyes covered the lenses of the device on the N165 toward Brest-Quimper, preventing it from issuing tickets, Le Telegramme reported. Three other cameras in the Lorient area were destroyed on the same night, including one set on fire with a burning tire.
In Montgomery County, Maryland, speed cameras have been attacked 44 times this year, according to The Washington Times. Between Tuesday and Wednesday, three cameras on Quince Orchard Road had their lenses spraypainted black. Two of the cameras also had a swastika drawn on the back.
