UK Radar Detector Ban Dies with Road Safety Bill
UK's Road Safety Bill has run out of time in parliament.

The Road Safety bill that would have banned radar detectors in the UK has run out of the time it would need for passage after Prime Minister Tony Blair set a May 5 general election date. The legislation also would have introduced graduated penalties for speed limit offenses and added three licence points for anyone caught driving while using a cell phone.

Paul Smith of the Safe Speed road safety campaign said, "Like many things in road safety, the 'obvious' view often proves to be wrong, and much of this bill was actually likely to make road safety worse. Good riddance!"
