France, Germany, Italy: Speed Cameras Blow Up
Spraypaint, fire and accidents surrounded speed cameras all across Europe last week.

In Langenberg, Germany, the traffic camera on the Bokenbusch Strasse was knocked over after it failed to prevent an accident on Saturday. According to local police, a Nissan Juke struck the automated ticketing machine causing serious injuries.

On the same day, the speed camera on the D911 in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, France was set on fire, La Depeche reported. In Saint-Maur on Thursday, the speed camera on the D925 was torched, according to La Nouvelle Republique. On Wednesday, the newly installed speed camera on the RN165 in Lorient was covered in purple spraypaint, Le Ploermelais reported. On Friday, the mobile speed camera in Mazures was blinded with a thick coat of silver spraypaint, according to L'Union.

In Mestre, Italy, vigilantes disabled the speed camera at the intersection of the Via Righi and Via Pacinotti last week Sunday. According to Il Gazzettino, cutting open the housing of the device so that the flash unit could be completely removed.
