Speed cameras are rammed, their drivers punched and lenses smashed in Australia and Italy.
Vigilantes in Cittadella, Italy, blinded a speed camera that was stationed between the SR 47 Valsugana and the SR 53 Postumia. The lenses of the device were smashed, preventing it from issuing citations until the device was repaired, Il Mattino di Padova reported.
In Ciampino, Italy a Fiat Punto rammed a speed camera on the via dei Laghi last week Sunday. The hit ripped the automated ticketing machine out of the ground. According to La Repubblica, police believe they have the license plate of the vehicle responsible.
In New South Wales, Australia a pair of vigilantes punched the driver of a speed camera van. The Newcastle Herald reported the speed trap was being set up on the Pacific Highway at Tea Gardens in Newcastle at 8:30pm on Tuesday. The camera car driver described one of the people who hit him as "thin." His injuries were not serious.
