Germany, Italy, UK: Speed Cameras Kicked Out, Burned
German motorists kicks over a speed camera, UK town kicks them out, vigilantes burn one in Italy.

Vigilantes in Shropshire, England succeeded in permanently eliminating a notorious speed camera. After having been destroyed in a July firebombing attack, the automated ticketing machine at Bennetts Bank will not be replaced. The Telford and Wrekin Council made the decision in the wake of Prime Minister David Cameron's massive reduction in photo enforcement funding. The Shropshire Star reported on Monday that the device had been removed permanently. Councilor Adrian Lawrence admitted that the camera was not effective in reducing accidents as previously claimed.

A speed camera in Barberino Val d'Elsa, Italy was doused in gasoline and set on fire Friday night. The automated ticketing machine located on regional road 429 in Zambra was damaged during the attack, but continues to function, La Nazione reported.

In Nienburg, Germany a motorist became angry when his Opel was flashed by a mobile speed camera near Hanover Street. The 52-year-old from Bad Rehburg articulated his displeasure to the police operator of the device. Not satisfied with the response, the man knocked over the speed camera tripod and did 700 euros (US $975) worth of damage to the automated ticketing machine.
