Indiana House Rejects Red Light Cameras
The Indiana state House voted 18-76 to defeat legislation that would have allowed red light cameras.

Indiana State HouseThe Indiana state House voted 18-76 to defeat a bill that would have allowed ten cities to install red light cameras. Although the bill, SB 570, passed the state Senate in March, yesterday's overwhelming vote means that the measure is dead for the session.

One of the amended bill's unique provisions was a requirement that the yellow signal be no less than five seconds where a camera is used. A study from the Texas Transportation Institute showed longer yellow timing decreased accidents at traffic signals.
