UAE Seizing Cars for Red Light Camera Tickets
Cars snapped by red light cameras are now subject to seizure in the United Arab Emirates.

UAE policeDubai police will now impound any vehicle photographed by a red light camera. For a first offense, the vehicle will be kept for one week, two weeks for a second and three weeks for a third offense. Each time police will also collect a 500 dirhams (US $136) fine.

Last month, the Emirate made 2,088,000 dirhams (US $567,936) in revenue from red light tickets. The new seizure program will add thousands in impounding fees to that total. Other crimes the result in car seizure include having dark window tinting, engine modifications and painting a car a different color.
