Door Chime Removal

Ugh! This was one of my biggest pet peeves. Most people are smart enough not to lock their keys in their car, but because car makers these days are aiming for the lowest common denominator, everyone's door will bong if you open it with the key in the ignition -- just for the sake of a few morons.

I asked my dealer on two separate occasions, and both times I was given different reasons why it couldn't be done. Guess what? This is one of the easiest modifications you can do.

You need to get down under the dashboard for this one. Just to the right of the coin holder there is a small white box that houses the chime module. All you need to do to find it is open the door with the key in the ignition. If the box vibrates in your hand, you have the right one.

Find the chime box here You need to break this box open with a screwdriver. Once it's open, you will find inside a circuitboard with a wire connector. Disconnect the wire connector from the circuitboard. That's it. This change will have no ill effect on your car, whatsoever.
